It took us a whiillee to film because as you can imagine – we couldn’t stop laughing. But after a few takes we nailed it 🙂
The scariest video on YouTube
Posted: March 30, 2011 Filed under: Scary/Film | Tags: caution, haunted, Scary, tricks, Video, YouTube Leave a commentThe idea of something being “scary” is totally subjective. Due to this being the case I’m going to show you a variety of videos, at least one of which (I am hoping) will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end and you heart beat a little faster because you’re a little bit scared. Remember to turn your volume right up!
The first video is simply entitled: ‘scary video,’ it’s a bit of a trick but try not to read the comments until afterwards – they will definitely ruin it for you.
The second video is part of a series of energy drink commercials from Germany, even though I had already seen this video I still jumped a mile! Again don’t read the comments and try to work out where the car has gone… (after watching if you want to see some of the other commercials in the series click here and here)
Of course there has to be a poltergeist, haunting and possessed kinda video that’s filmed in night vision in a foreign language. This one was quite scary and really weird, it definitely freaked me out a little…
This video has a little story at the beginning, then a picture that you have to stare at for five minutes in order for something to happen. Let me know if it happens to you!
Here’s another weird little gem for you, it makes it scarier that it’s a little kid. Definitely freaked me out a little bit.
The trailer for the film Unborn is creepy too, why is it always children that seem the scariest when they’re possessed?
And finally, the trailer for White Noise is pretty weird too. It’s been edited like a documentary, like it’s something that genuinely happens. I genuinely really don’t think that it does though!
So you tell me, which one was scariest? Leave a comment and let me know if you find one better!
Limitless
Posted: March 25, 2011 Filed under: Scary/Film | Tags: Bradley Cooper, clever advertising, Limitless, London underground, NZT, The Hangover 1 CommentThis is the trailer for the new film starring The Hangover‘s Bradley Cooper: Limitless.
Not only does the film actually look good, the advertising has been pretty clever too. For those of you who live in London and travel by tube you may have seen a weird advertisement above your head for a pill…
![]()
The pill advertised is the one featured in the movie which means the Coopers character can basically be superhuman because the medicine is allowing him to access more of his brain. The advertisement is really just a clever way of promoting the film.
You may have also seen this advert on the underground:

You can’t see from the grainy picture but the list of side effects include: homicidal blackouts, paralysis and it says that it will result in sudden death. As you can imagine this caused confusion to some people (including myself) when I first read it!
Did you see the adverts? What do you think?

Posted: March 25, 2011 Filed under: Scary/Film | Tags: 1976, Desensitisation, Film, Jack Nicholson, Movies, Scary, The Omen, The Shining 1 CommentAllow me to explain. You may not have realised, but if you are a typical person who watches most of the box office hits and television dramas – it is likely that your tolerance of violence and horror has increased. You have become desensitised. This is illustrated by the idea that things that we’re scary in 1970 are pretty mundane now, and things that are broadcast now would have been far too taboo for that era.
Take, The Omen (1976); This movie is psychologically thrilling, and not filmed in the dark. How many movies have been made like this one in this millenium? Film directors feel the need to use mindless gore and permanent night scenes in order to scare people now, they think that people want obviously scary ideas that they don’t have to think about – axe murderers or mental institution break-outs. The ideas mostly used now, however, are things that could technically happen (even with the smallest probability). The characters now seem to have put no value on their lives and will quite happily wonder into a wood where a murderer is known to live.
The Omen was clever, but the trailer made me laugh, it didn’t make me scared.
The Shining (1980) with Jack Nicholson is similar;
In this film Nicholson’s character goes insane because of cabin fever, because he had been living in solidarity (with his wife and kid) for the winter, and because a tale about a man going crazy in the same location had been told to him before he went there – almost like he was fulfilling the prophesy about himself. This film, again, is not about blood and guts and it does not use them as a formular to scare people. It’s just a classic thriller, and it’s brilliant.
The Resident: trailer review.
Posted: March 23, 2011 Filed under: Scary/Film | Tags: Hiliary Swank, Horror movie, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, P.S. I Love You (film), The Resident, Trailer 1 Comment
“In every city, thousands of women live by themselves. But Juliette is not alone”
You know the drill: girl home alone in her brand new seemingly perfect apartment, but then again, is it? Â It’s as formulaic as horror movies come, with Hollywood offering stuff exactly like this at least twice a year.
The difference with ‘The Resident‘ is that Hillary Swank, as in the A-lister with two Oscars, is in it. This completely goes against the typecast of the beautiful, stick thin, twenty-something woman who’s overacting explains the fact that she is virtually unknown. It also features Jeffrey Dean Morgan (the absolute BEAUT from Grey’s Anatomy and P.S. I  Love You) as the creepy psycho, again giving us an actor with a few more chops.
The trailer itself follows the generic route of practically giving the whole film away: girl moves into apartment (of her dreams). Bumps into her landlord (Morgan) at some social event. Starts getting creeped out, just in time for him to take it to the next level by perving on her through a peep hole he’s made. Which leads on to his full on attack. The ending could go two ways – he wins or she does. But it’s pretty obvious where the movie will go, unless there’s a sequel in the pipes.
The peep hole scene takes place whilst she’s in the bath, and is again typical of movies like, they mix this with yet another horror movie stereotype by getting the girl naked.
I could be tempted to watch this film, probably because my expectations are augmented by the inclusion of some great actors – there must have been something good about the script to get them involved. However, I won’t be splashing out at the cinema, I’ll probably wait till it’s on DVD and someone else happens to buy it.
What do you guys think?
