Panic! At The Disco
Posted: March 25, 2011 Filed under: Music | Tags: Panic At The Disco, The Balled of Mona Lisa Leave a commentThe much anticipated return of Panic! has arrived in the form of their new song, The Balled of Mona Lisa. With it, they brought back their heavenly harmonies and kitsch costumes.
Have a watch. I think their new album is going to be hot, just like Mr Brendon Urie himself! How about you?
Dell & Lauren ‘try’ to be cool.

Well, allow me to explain. He’s an american boy who has a rare genetic disease which meant he had to undergo some surgery that prevented him from going outside for almost a year, which was when he started making his videos. Keenan is now becoming a big thing on YouTube from posting these videos of himself miming along to different songs and filming it. You’d think it would be quite easy, just sat pretending to sing, but he is REALLY bad at it. No matter though, because some of his videos now feature stars like 50 Cent, David Guetta and the New York Knicks, has his own website, and is now appearing on shows all over the US, so who care’s how crap he is!
After watching this video, I decided I wanted a go to see how difficult it was, so I decided to have a few drinks with my friend, Lauren. When we both got to the point of not caring who watched the video after it was posted online, iTunes and Photobooth went on, we chose a song and danced and mimed along. Looking back, I do care a little bit, but the end where Lauren starts jumping on my bed and our faces at certain times are just so funny that I couldn’t keep it to myself.
Have fun watching guys!

Posted: March 24, 2011 Filed under: Music | Tags: Born This Way, Lady Gaga, Music, Rihanna, S&M, Zombie Boy 2 CommentsHave you ever seen a music video then stepped back and thought, ‘what the hell just happened?’
In a way I kind of love it when that happens. Artists have a visual blank canvas when they go to make a music video, and get the opportunity to be able to express their feelings through the actions on screen. For example, let’s take Rihanna’s new video for her song ‘S&M’ which has faced mass scrutiny for it’s sexual implications all the way through. I don’t care what anybody says though, ’cause it does match the lyrics of the song. ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whips excite me’… It would be a bit stupid to have her doing anything else but frolicking around in bright pink lycra. That is beside the point though. We know what she is trying to implicate through this song and video, but sometimes, music video’s can go just a little bit too far.
Lady Gaga is one of those artists that, almost every time, over steps the line and pushes the boundaries of music videos. If any body has seen the extended version of her new video ‘Born This Way’ they would understand exactly what I’m ranting on about. The beginning of this seven minute epic, we hear Gaga doing a monologue which seems to be a stylistic way of emphasising the good and evil that will become. To be perfectly honest, that’s not the weird thing though. As well as featuring a mad, kaleidoscopic birth from the ‘good’ Gaga, the ‘evil’ Gaga also pulls a machine gun out of her lady business. At that point I was like ‘Yeah Gaga. You’ve lost me.’
Throughout the rest of the video, slotted in through the extensive dance routine where Gaga is wearing the smallest set of underwear, there are numerous other random and down right ridiculous things. A few times we see her dancing in a full suit, matching in make up and dress with Zombie Boy (the guy that’s tattooed from head to toe like a Zombie) and we occasionally see her in a mirrored room with her head in what looks like a jar with other disembodied heads around her…
I was honestly, completely baffled watching this whole video, and, even though the song is catchy and it’s doing amazingly well here and in the US, I can’t deny I was a little freaked out.
If you can watch it and make more sense of it than I did, then please, leave a comment and enlighten me a bit more!
The Midnight Beast
Posted: March 22, 2011 Filed under: Funny, Music | Tags: Ashley Horne, Dru Wakely, Friday, Jay Sean, Kesha, Rebecca Black, Stefan Abington, The Midnight Beast, Tik Tok, YouTube 1 CommentTo all those out there that haven’t heard of the 3-piece comedic ‘boy-band’ that is The Midnight Beast, you’ve seriously missed out. The band are made up of Stefan Abington, Dru Wakely and Ashley Horne, and together are an unstoppable force of comedy with catchy lyrics, hilarious music video’s and childish dancing that we just can’t get enough of.
They stormed onto the scene in 2009, when they uploaded their parody of Ke$ha’s ‘Tik Tok’ featuring the three of them rapping and dancing in a house with props such as a naked barbie doll and photo of Sarah Palin. Intrigued? Well you should be! The video was a massive success and has over 10 million views on YouTube. Ke$ha herself has actually seen the video, tweeting afterwords; “holy. s**t. this is better than my version.” No offence Ke$ha, but we strongly agree.
As well as this parody, the band have also done covers of Jay Sean’s ‘Down’, and 3 days ago, posted their version of the most annoying song in the world (which me and our scary girl, Beth filmed our reaction too yesterday), Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’. The video has had over 286,000 views in the past couple of days, had a stint on the front page of YouTube and seems to be getting shared all over sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The boys have just come off their UK tour and have lined up appearances at festivals, including a headline spot on the Festival Republic Stage at Leeds/Reading.
It’s clear that The Midnight Beast are going to go far, and if you like their Ke$ha parody, (and think their ‘almost’ parody of Rebecca Black is funny), I would urge you to have a session on their YouTube channel familiarising yourself with some of their own material, like Booty Call and Just Another Boyband which me and Beth frequently dance around my room to.
Rebecca Black ‘Friday’. Our reaction.
