Fashion and beauty
Posted: April 3, 2011 Filed under: How to..., Own Content Leave a commentThis spring, the first-year fashion students at the University of Westminster debuted their designs in a stunning runway show. I spoke to some of the designers a few days before the event and asked them what they think about when designing, and how they feel fashion adds to beauty.
Handbrake turns in inappropiate places!
Posted: April 1, 2011 Filed under: Cars, Own Content, The Vidpick Team | Tags: Autos, Facebook, HandBrake, Parking lot Leave a commentAnyone who has spent more than 15 minutes around me will know that I am a serious ‘petrol head’. Now being a ‘petrol head’ is quite a sad trait to have. Levelling on the loser scale with train spotters and window lickers, but as a petrol head there are small and stupid things that amuse me. Like in this clip where I think it’s appropriate to orchestrate two handbrake turns in my Weekend Racer – a stripped out and turbo’d Peugeot 106 GTI. Even though it’s a preposterously tight resident’s car park. As the video is entitled, I question myself everyday… When will I ever grow up?!?
What features do women find most attractive in a man?
Posted: April 1, 2011 Filed under: Own Content, The Vidpick Team Leave a commentIt’s an age-old question. What is it that makes women take that second glance at a man as he struts his stuff down the road? Is it looks or is it something else? I asked 11 ladies at Westminster University (MAD Campus) just what it is that they find most attractive in a man. The answer we all already knew… but I wonder how many of them lied. I mean – who really wants to pull an ugly bloke?
Beth and Adele’s own content for this week
Posted: March 31, 2011 Filed under: Cringe, Funny, Own Content | Tags: Beyonce, Lady Gaga 1 CommentAfter careful consideration we decided to join forces for our final ‘own content’ feature. This is our video that we made, it’s dedicated to Lady Gaga and Beyonce, and it’s of us ‘singing’ Telephone.
It took us a whiillee to film because as you can imagine – we couldn’t stop laughing. But after a few takes we nailed it 🙂
Dell & Lauren ‘try’ to be cool.
Posted: March 25, 2011 Filed under: Music, Own Content | Tags: 50 Cent, Adele Jones, David Guetta, Get Low, Keenan Cahill, Lauren Wilson, Lil' Jon and The Eastside Boys, New York Knicks Leave a commentI don’t know whether you’ve all heard of Keenan Cahill? Well, allow me to explain. He’s an american boy who has a rare genetic disease which meant he had to undergo some surgery that prevented him from going outside for almost a year, which was when he started making his videos. Keenan is now becoming a big thing on YouTube from posting these videos of himself miming along to different songs and filming it. You’d think it would be quite easy, just sat pretending to sing, but he is REALLY bad at it. No matter though, because some of his videos now feature stars like 50 Cent, David Guetta and the New York Knicks, has his own website, and is now appearing on shows all over the US, so who care’s how crap he is!
After watching this video, I decided I wanted a go to see how difficult it was, so I decided to have a few drinks with my friend, Lauren. When we both got to the point of not caring who watched the video after it was posted online, iTunes and Photobooth went on, we chose a song and danced and mimed along. Looking back, I do care a little bit, but the end where Lauren starts jumping on my bed and our faces at certain times are just so funny that I couldn’t keep it to myself.
Have fun watching guys!
Getting the Hump… Chinese Style
Posted: March 25, 2011 Filed under: Cars, Uncategorized Leave a commentAs VidPick’s only resident male, I think its only right that I come over all ‘laddish’ for a few moments, and feature a couple of car videos on the blog. Unfortunately however, we’re about to begin on rather a sour note.
Behind the above video link, lies quite possibly the most disturbing scenes you have ever seen. Whether you’re a car lover or hater, I’m sure as a red-blooded person you can appreciate the beauty of a Supercar. Fast, glamorous and exclusive, supercar ownership is just a dream to mere mortals such as you and I. Which is why this video is even more painful to watch.
Picture this: Man with (ahem) too much flipping money goes to work one day in his £150,000 Lamborghini Gallardo. Said Gallardo breaks down. Aforementioned man proceeds to hire a team to smash the Gallardo to a unreconisable wreck, to highlight his displeasure.
Deeply unsettling stuff… Prepare to be shocked into silence.
A Life Online Indeed
Posted: March 24, 2011 Filed under: Own Content Leave a commentOk so it’s Mr. Rude’s time for the ‘own content’ upload. To be honest I was a bit stumped as to what to do. Especially after ‘cuddly’ blogger Chanelle ‘s earlier vid hit all the right funny spots. It was whilst watching our resident Essex girl turn Chinese – and male – that I remembered a video I had stumbled across earlier this week.
As Our Chan rightly identified at the beginning of the week, once a video of you is online, it’s there forever. Whilst being a YouTube geek at the weekend, I happened upon a recording of me made in July 2010, whilst in Holland. The video shows my Air Cadet team entering the final checkpoint, after walking 75 Miles of the famous 100 Mile in 4 days – Nijmegen Marches. It also shows us putting on a 10 second rendition of the Jungle Skank, which I had carefully choreographed over the space of a week.
You might also notice that I look pretty annoyed (due to an argument with a rather ignorant German only moments before) and therefore don’t take part in the subsequent rendition!! To be fair, the dance was bloody excellent. Especially when you consider we had all just walked 75 miles. But now, thinking about the fact that people can watch it all over the world for years (and years) down the line; I can’t help but wonder whether everyone will point me out saying… “Oooo look at that miserable dude.. Doesn’t he just spoil the video…”
Morale of the story: Smile for the cameras… The evidence might float around forever!!
My attempt at the Chinese Boys! LOL
Posted: March 24, 2011 Filed under: Own Content, The Vidpick Team | Tags: Arts, Google, Jessica Simpson, Public Affair, Television, Video, Video camera, YouTube 4 CommentsMy all time favourite YouTube videos have to be any made by the Chinese Boys! They are hilarious. They are regulars on the YouTube scene with lots of videos of them miming to hit songs like Jessica Simpson‘s song Public Affair – which is my fave.
So, I decided for my own content this week I would TRY to copy this video, its all for banter. Clearly I don’t take myself very seriously and trying to do this video as a one piece was very tricky, I’m the one in sunglasses if there’s any confusion.
Let me know what you think!
