The Midnight Beast

The band are made up of Stefan Abington, Dru Wakely and Ashley Horne, and together are an unstoppable force of comedy with catchy lyrics, hilarious music video’s and childish dancing that we just can’t get enough of.
They stormed onto the scene in 2009, when they uploaded their parody of Ke$ha’s ‘Tik Tok’ featuring the three of them rapping and dancing in a house with props such as a naked barbie doll and photo of Sarah Palin. Intrigued? Well you should be! The video was a massive success and has over 10 million views on YouTube. Ke$ha herself has actually seen the video, tweeting afterwords; “holy. s**t. this is better than my version.” No offence Ke$ha, but we strongly agree.
As well as this parody, the band have also done covers of Jay Sean’s ‘Down’, and 3 days ago, posted their version of the most annoying song in the world (which me and our scary girl, Beth filmed our reaction too yesterday), Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’. The video has had over 286,000 views in the past couple of days, had a stint on the front page of YouTube and seems to be getting shared all over sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The boys have just come off their UK tour and have lined up appearances at festivals, including a headline spot on the Festival Republic Stage at Leeds/Reading.
It’s clear that The Midnight Beast are going to go far, and if you like their Ke$ha parody, (and think their ‘almost’ parody of Rebecca Black is funny), I would urge you to have a session on their YouTube channel familiarising yourself with some of their own material, like Booty Call and Just Another Boyband which me and Beth frequently dance around my room to.
